Donate locally?

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

Dear Editor,

I have a question about McCook's "Shop Locally."

We have in McCook two very nice thrift shops, so why is a semi trailer in Sears' parking lot from a Goodwill Company here and why are people of McCook taking items to it to be sold in other towns and we get no profit to stay in our town?

Keep dollars in the local economy and not make Goodwill a bigger millionaire!

Betty Boyd,

McCook, Nebraska

  • A donation to a good cause is a good donation. That said, I do agree to donate locally is best for our area.

  • Perhaps the Goodwill trailer is more convenient for dropping off items as it is open all day? I agree that donating locally is best but the local stores are only open for a short period of time during the day.
