Alissa Jean Holland of La Vista, Nebraska, formerly of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Nicholas Eugene Hinz of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of McCook, Nebraska, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.
Parents of the couple are Rick and Kathy Holland of Lincoln and Gary and Barb Hinz of McCook.
Grandparents of the couple are Jean High of Lincoln, the late Robert and Viola Holland, Harvey and Erma Hinz of McCook, Bette Rice of McCook and the late Pete Rice.
The bride-to-be graduated from Doane College in 2008 with a major in psychology and minor in sociology. She graduated in 2010 from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a masters in community counseling. She obtained her teaching certificate in 2013 with a emphasis in K-12 special education. She teaches 7th and 8th grade math special education at Andersen Middle School in Millard.
The prospective bridegroom attended McCook Community College for two years and transferred to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to complete a degree in education with an emphasis in industrial technology. He taught for eight years at Bellevue East High School and will start next year teaching at Elkhorn South High School. He completed his masters degree in curriculum and instruction from Wayne State College in 2013.
A June 28, 2014, wedding is planned at Thanksgiving Lutheran Church in Bellevue with a reception to follow at the DC Centre in Omaha. The couple plans to honeymoon in Mexico and to reside in Omaha.
