RUSSELL, Kansas -- Minnie Herbel, 96, died Friday (Jan. 3, 2014), at Russell.

She was born Jan. 19, 1917, in Dorrance, Kansas, to Dave and Anna (Hilgenberg) Betz.

She married Jake Herbel on June 14, 1936. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Dorrance,

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jake; and three brothers, Chris, David and Edward Betz.

Survivors include daughter, Marilyn Betts of McCook, Nebraska; two grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Nancy Mitchell officiating. Interment is at the Dorranace City Cemetery.

Visitation is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at Foster Mortuary and 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
