Letter to the Editor

Thanks, McCook

Dear Editor,

This past weekend at the Kiplinger Arena was the 6th Annual Roper Barrel Racing Futurity produced by Lynn Kohr of Gillette, Wyoming.

This futurity was originally held in Gillette, Wyo., but due to weather and scheduling difficulties it was suggested moving the futurity to McCook.

This is the second year for the futurity in McCook and it has been a resounding success!

Competitors from all over the country from Florida to California and Texas to Canada make the trip to McCook -- most staying for several days. We hear nothing but huge compliments on the arena and facilities and how the community is so friendly. Thank you to McCook and the Kiplinger Arena for hosting this awesome event.

Deb Christy,

Norton, Kansas

  • The county and the city have much to be thankful for the generous gift by Mr. Kiplinger and family. My guess is that over the course of a year the arena brings more people to this area than any other attraction.
