Zilah N. Powell of Stratton, Nebraska, will celebrate her 99th birthday. She was born July 27, 1914. She is the daughter of Seymour and Nola Pember Bailey. Her father was a baseball pitcher in the 20s and she and her brother, Earl Bailey, traveled with him in the summers. She taught school in Stratton and was married to W.J. Powell, who farmed in the Stratton area. Zilah plans to attend a Charleston Riverdogs baseball game and be the guest of honor at a 99th birthday open house at her daughter's home. She has a son, Bill and wife, Darlene Powell of Littleton, Colorado, grandson, Jeff Powell and grandaughter, Michele Tate, and great-grandson, Nickolas Powell, all of Colorado. Zilah currently makes her home in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, with her daughter, Yvonne Powell, and her two grandsons, Sean and Ryan Carper and her beloved Peke, Weesan.
