Teenage drama gone too far

Friday, July 12, 2013

To the community and whomever else it may concern:

I am writing this in regard to the recent false articles that have been printed in this newspaper about my mother, Lana Egle. With the verdict of the hearing that happened on the 11th of June to decide whether the school board would retain or release my mother just recently getting to the public, it appears to me that there are several misinformed citizens.

The evening of the ONE party that happened at my house after the 2013 Color Day dance was long forgotten until about 3 months after the fact. It got brought to the surface only because of petty teenage drama. Yes, this ONE party never should have happened, as teenagers are stupid and only think of themselves ... but it did!

My teenage friends and I made a huge mistake, and in making that mistake, we were not aware that it would ever cause this large of an issue, nor put my mother's hard-earned teaching career at risk! This whole ordeal has been taken way too far and I for one do not believe it should cost my mother her job because of what we did. We put her in a situation as a PARENT that she handled (right or wrong) in the middle of the night in our own home.

I kindly thank all of you who took the time to read this and I hope that as a community, this issue can be resolved without further slander toward my mother.

Sincerely,

Nicole Helm,

McCook, Nebraska
