Letter to the Editor

Thanks, McCook

Thursday, June 20, 2013

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the Nebraska Community Foundation, I would like to say thank you to the McCook Community Foundation Fund and other community members for your warm welcome at our quarterly board meeting on June 13 and 14.

In addition to our regular business meeting at the beautifully renovated Keystone Business Center, we enjoyed a bus tour of the community. Our long-time friend and supporter, Don Harpst, served as our guide, pointing out a number of projects and programs that McCook Community Foundation Fund has helped to implement. The list is extensive. Hillcrest Nursing Home, the YMCA, recreational trails with fitness equipment, the events center, the backpack program for needy families, to name just a few.

Thank you, Jan and Van Korell, for generously hosting a reception in your home at the historic Frank Lloyd Wright Sutton House. Thanks also to Matt Sehnert and his fabulous crew for providing a delicious dinner at the Biéroc Café, along with musical entertainment by Amber and Barbara Leising of Arapahoe and the Honey Don't duet from Colorado.

Finally, a big thank you to Mark and Linda Graff for getting it all started on Wednesday night by bringing together members of the McCook Community Foundation Fund and the NCF Board for a wonderful evening at their home.

The McCook Community Foundation Fund is one of NCF's most successful community partners. Community economic development and endowment building have thrived in McCook and Red Willow County the last decade. We salute your progress and we deeply appreciate your generous hospitality.
