INTRO

Is the Bible relevant for our day or is it just a book of myths, not to be taken seriously? What we are seeing on our T V screens, hearing on our radio's and reading in our newspapers was all prophesied 2,000 to 3,000 years ago. The Old Testament and the New Testament PROPHETS foretold exactly what was going to take place in the LAST DAYS! Jesus Himself was the greatest prophet of all and you can read His prophecies in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. For today's meditation, turn in your Bible to II Timothy 3.

PERILOUS TIMES

Our news media tells us we are living in perilous times. In II Timothy 3:1 we read, "This know also, that in the LAST DAYS perilous times shall come." Just this week, we have seen the bombing in Boston, with three dead, others with limbs amputated and many were injured. Jeremiah 17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things and DESPERATELY WICKED; who can understand it?" These two brothers could have had a great life, BUT they chose to kill and maim people. WHY? The fertilizer plant in Texas blew up, resulting in a number of deaths and many injuries. Hurricane Sandy did a world of damage and left many homeless. Also there is destruction from tornado's........Joplin and Tuscaloosa come to mind. And then there are forest fires and grass fires that burn up many homes and trees. Floods galore. And then globally, there are earthquakes, typhoons and floods. All this leaves us with one conclusion........We ARE LIVING IN THE LAST DAYS.......of this age, and it will all come to a conclusion with the SECOND COMING of Jesus Christ back to Planet Earth and when He takes charge, everything will be in perfect harmony.

OTHER IDENTIFYING SIGNS

Vs. 2, For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, (Do you know those who fit the description's?)." I read a comprehensive article in the MIDNIGHT CALL magazine recently that was quite an indictment of the cell phone, as a great facilitator of all of these characteristics. Vs. 3, "Unloving, irreconcilable, MALICIOUS gossips (destroying other peoples reputations & character without foundation), without SELF CONTROL (ready to fight & take revenge at the drop of a hat), brutal........flowing from hatred & anger.......haters of good........like untamed beasts."

A PERFECT PICTURE

Vs. 4, "Treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure MORE THAN lovers of God." God is not against pleasure for, "At His right hand there are pleasures forevermore." Vs. 5 Holding to A FORM of Godliness (their religion is not heartfelt.......no emotion) but denying the POWER thereof (the power to turn the vilest sinner into a saint of God & relieve them of the LOAD......weight, of their sin. Vs. 6, For among them there are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses." The sins of fornication and adultery are rampant across America. If you watch any of the JUDGE shows, you know this.

MOSES, JANNES

& JAMBREES

Vs. 8, "Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, reprobate in regard to the faith." Ryrie comments: "Though these names do not appear in the O.T., in late Jewish, pagan and certain early Christian writings, they are applied to the Egyptian magicians who performed counterfeit miracles in opposition to Moses (Ex. 7:11, 22). They are symbols of the folly of opposing the truth." Vs. 9, "But they will not make further progress, for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes and Jambres folly was also."

SIGNS OF HIS COMING

II Peter 3:1-7, Vs. 1, "This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder. Vs. 2 That you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles. Vs. 3, Know this first of all, that in the LAST DAYS mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, vs. 4 And saying, Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation. vs. 5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of the water and by water. Vs. 6 Through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. Vs. 7 But by His word, the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of UNGODLY men." The Bible is very explicit about what is SOON coming to pass. Any day now! We are THE TERMINAL GENERATION! God's judgment will soon be poured out, but Rev.3:10 is a wonderful promise, "Because you have kept the word of my perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, the hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell upon the earth." Pray, "Lord Jesus, I believe You died for my sins, which are many. I accept You now as my personal Savior. Please forgive me of all my sin's and take me to Heaven when You come for your church. Amen!"
