Board up building

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

Dear Editor,

I was wondering if somebody could do something about the old St. Catherine's Apartments in the 1200 block of West 4th.

The windows are knocked out the doors are open and people are going in an out of there all the time.

I contacted the nuisance abatement office in McCook and they said they'd contact the owners, but nothing has happened. The windows are still knocked out, doors are open and people are loitering in there. It's just a nest for crime.

I think if we can spend millions for a new police station and millions for a jail, we could find enough money to buy a few sheets of plywood and board up that building.

Lyle Wilcox,

McCook, Nebraska

  • The facility is not the responsibility of the city to repair. I believe the city is going through the legal steps to get it in a more safe condition. You are right that the place needs repaired or removed the question is ---who pays the owners or the taxpayers in town?
