MCC Theater presenting 'The Mousetrap' April 18-20
McCOOK, Nebraska -- McCook Community College Theater is presenting Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap" April 18, 19 and 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Weeth Theater on campus. The show is the longest continuously-running play of any kind in the history of modern theater. It opened in London on Nov. 25, 1952, and celebrated its 25,000th performance on Nov. 16, 2012. The play is a popular draw for London tourists, and is included in most tours.
The play, directed by Sue Watts, takes place at Monkswell Manor Guest House, a new endeavor for young newlyweds Giles and Mollie Ralston (Joseph McCarty and JeriLynn Karr). The first guests arrive in a raging blizzard, and prove to be an unusual group of travelers. Christopher Wren (Barbara Leising), an unkempt young woman, was given her name because her parents wanted her to be an architect, after the designer of St. Paul's Cathedral. Mrs. Boyle (Cheryl Scott) finds nothing to be to her liking, and Major Metcalf (David Sandman), tends to observe the goings-on at the Manor. Miss Casewell (Emily Karr) is enigmatic and unwilling to reveal her past, and Miss Paravicini (Tiffany Anderson) is the unexpected guest who seems to be in disguise. Into the household in the midst of the blizzard is Det. Sgt. Trotter (Bryce Osterman), who tells the guests they may all be in danger from an escaped killer and he hopes to prevent a murder.
Tickets for the two-hour play are on sale at Schmick's Market, the MCC Welcome Center office or at the door the nights of the show. Seating is limited.
