Names, please?

Thursday, December 13, 2012

Dear Editor,

Way back in the 1400s, the O'Dea family built a castle in Ireland. The nearly six-century old structure still stands and, if I do say so myself, looks pretty good for an edifice built by the Irish.

I began thinking about the castle the other day after observing McCook's emerging police, fire and administration building.

What a sight that is!

I've heard a lot of discussion about the city building, which has set me to thinking we should come up with a special name for the city's new center. Kent Kilpatrick calls it the "Taj Mahal." Is that the title we should settle for, or do you have a better idea?

Put your thinking caps on. If you come up with a good idea for naming the municipal building, mail it to: Densel O'Dea, % City Building Suggestions, 701 West L Street, McCook, NE 69001.

My colleague, Gene O. Morris, and I will ask a judging committee (made up of coffee break experts) to select the most popular title. We will then have a nice certificate printed and framed for presentation to McCook City Officials at the Municipal Building Dedication Ceremony.

Thanks. And keep those cards and letters coming.

Respectfully submitted,

Densel O'Dea

McCook, Nebraska
