Dorothy Nell Hudson

OAK HARBOR, Washington -- Long time McCook, Nebraska, resident, Dorothy Nell Hudson, 97, passed away on July 1, 2012, in Oak Harbor, Washington.

She was born on September 13, 1914, in Buffalo, Kansas, to parents John W. Brock and Eliza Rachel (Crist) Brock. She was the youngest of eight siblings.

Dorothy married William A. Hudson and shared her life with him in Kansas, McCook, Nebraska, and Mesa, Arizona, until his death in 1991.

Dorothy enjoyed her life as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher, and member of DAR, AAUW, Eastern Star, and the First Congregational Church. She recognized the value of education and reading for her entire life and her exhaustive work left her family with a genealogy of both her and Bill's family that will always be cherished.

Dorothy is survived by her five children: John Hudson of Oak Harbor, Washington; William (Hank) Hudson of La Grande, Oregon; Jim Hudson of Beatrice, Nebraska; Jane Sailors of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Charles Hudson of Seattle, Washington; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. All her children graduated from McCook Senior High.

In accordance with her wishes, Dorothy will be cremated and buried with Bill at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near North Platte

Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Nebraska chapter of AAUW, the Sioux Lookout chapter of DAR (North Platte), or the First Congregational Church of McCook.
