Letter to the Editor

Smoke poison ivy?

Monday, February 6, 2012

Dear Editor,

Some folks may use a Bible verse as an excuse to use marijuana. I'll use a Bible verse as a reson not to. "Everything is permissable" -- but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissable" -- but not everything is constructive. Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others (I Cor. 10:23,24 NIV). Folks should read the whole Bible, not just one verse.

Would you smoke tobacco? Would you smoke poison ivy or a toadstool? Common sense is evidence as to what marijuana does to people.

Marijuana is "pie in the sky, by and by." I'd stay as far away from it is as I can. If anyone offers me any marijuana, legal or not, my standard answer is "No thanks, I'm already happy and I want to stay that way. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt."

There is no high like the most high, Jesus the Christ. I praise and worship Jesus because I want to. Folks smoke marijuana because they have to, even after it is no fun anymore.

Sincerely,

George R. Anderson,

McCook, Nebraska
