Yes, it really is still winter
Wednesday, February 1, 2012
With the shirt-sleeve weather -- we tied the record high temperature, 70º on Monday -- it's been easy to forget we're in the middle of winter.
Mother Nature is promising to give us a good reminder on Groundhog Day, no matter what Punxsutawney Phil says Thursday, with the arrival of a winter storm.
This morning's forecast called for "a significant winter storm" that could bring 8 to 14 inches of snow north of Interstate 70, and winds gusting as high as 50 m.p.h. on Friday.
Our advice? Adjust your travel plans to avoid the bad weather, and if you do have to drive, make sure your car is in good condition, you have an emergency kit, and someone knows your schedule.
Better yet, stay home, keep warm and enjoy the Superbowl hype.
