Letter to the Editor

PIPA and SOPA

Monday, January 23, 2012

Dear Editor,

I read the editorial on PIPA and SOPA. First, thanks for the explanation. If the Internet sites self-policed, we would not have this problem. All sorts of intellectual properties are being stolen at a rate approaching the national debt.

There are currently ways to make "borrowing" artistic creations tougher. You can go to my web site and right click your heart away, the only thing that you will get are sore fingers. I don't understand how its done, just know that its being done. A lot of visual artist have taken to printing their copyright info on top of the digital image to try and protect their creativity and their income. Even that is a minor preventative. Stealing anothers pay check is against the law, but, that is what it amounts to. The best way to avoid government interference is for these sites to self enact systems that will protect copyrights. No problem, no need for more government "Help."

Bill Coe,

SOPA is not a bill to protect an "individuals" information on a website. It is a low-down attempt of corporate america to put their hands even deeper in the individuals cookie jar. What it does is allows total and complete access to any and all information to and from any ISP server to any and all individuals subscribing to such. I am saying this CORPORATE AMERICA = AMERICAN GOVERNMENT = ELECTED OFFICIALS = LOBBYISTS = ELECTORAL COLLEGE = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

    It's time to wake up.

In short as I assume 99% of people are not aware, and or do not care, or just accept as they are blinded with their toys, and falsehoods. There is already so called "3rd" party software installed on all ISP modems, alongside nearly every operating system, as well as any "android' powered device. These programs are created to track, collect, and report personal information in the background for monetary gain, and without permission from the individual.

This information collection is illegal, and is in violation of Constitutional rights of the individual...however is hiding behind the omnipresent saying "well you signed up for it". A term that makes my spine shiver.

No one signs up for the illegal documentation, collection and thievery of personal settings, files, lists, information that is digitally stored in, on, or around their "private" home network. But this is what is happening, and it is a lucrative business...and it is being obtained from any and all passers by...in the background.

Copyright infringement? How many ways can you describe to me what that means. Last I checked, when you as an individual purchase something, you are the owner of that information; paper, plastic, electronic, digital, clothing, furniture, no matter what. As the owner, you can share it with anyone you wish? As long as you do not charge and or make money or profit from that information.

So to say, I, cannot give a dvd movie away to someone else, or video game, or furniture, or electronic device, but rather must destroy it sounds lucrative.

This is what corporations are attempting to "control" but it is not what they are doing...as SOPA is coupled along side the largest marketing scandal in the history of mankind. The electronic collection of an individual interests, likes, dislikes, sicknesses, addictions, habits, treatments, preferences, directly from the personally owned devices, in the so called protected "privacy of ones home"...to be used for monetary gain.

I understand that some will not understand what I am saying. I also am willing to accept that most will point and laugh, and question what I mean...and what I stand for. There will be questions of "what are you trying to hide." etc.

    I leave with this statement.

Next time you run to the store, or go out of town, or leave any opening for someone to walk into your home, rummage through your personal files, secret codes, safes, bank accounts, electronic devices, please, just call into KICX and write a quick blog on facebook, as well as this website. To let all of those individuals that stand to gain monetarily for intruding your privacy and taking what they want while your back is turned have the opportunity to invade your privacy, but please, do not feel as though you are being intruded upon, or stolen from...don't worry. What do you have to hide?
