One more Boyer story
Dear Editor,
Just a little add-on to Dick Trail's story about Wayne Boyer, kind of the Rest of the Story.
Wayne very seldom talked about the war. One day, as we were looking at a new stand of hay coming up, he started talking about it. He told about how he could see the whites of their eyes before their plane blew, about how the man carrying shells had bullets flying all around him.
But on that last flight, one shell hit one of their engines. Oil flew everywhere. They were 1,200 miles from base, and the pilot said there was no way they could get home with only three engines.
He started the fourth engine, and it ran the 1,200 miles. They looked at the motor, and there wasn't a drop of oil in it.
Wayne said any time anybody doesn't think there's somebody up their watching over us, they had better think again.
God saved a very special man that day.
