Letter to the Editor

Consummate pro

Thursday, September 15, 2011

Dear Editor,

McCook is a great community because of people like Jack Rogers.

Jack was the consummate professional and a living history book whose knowledge of McCook and Nebraska impressed everyone who knew him or read his articles.

As governor and senator I enjoyed being interviewed by Jack who was always courteous and well researched no matter what the subject was.

He asked good questions and you could tell by the solid stories he wrote that he had respect for his readers because he asked questions that were of interest to them.

I will always have fond memories of Jack and the work he did for McCook as a first rate newspaperman and later member of the city council.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Ida, his family, and all of McCook in his passing. We lost a good one.

Sincerely,

Ben Nelson

U.S. Senator

  • Jack was a gentleman, a community leader and thoughtful thinker. McCook will miss him.
