Tea Party Patriots respond

Monday, August 8, 2011

Dear Editor,

I was very impressed with the Aug. 2 opinion piece by Dick Trail titled, "Crisis in Washington." It frankly showed an insightful appraisal of the debt ceiling and out of control spending crisis that has occupied so much of the debate in DC these last nine weeks.

Now this issue was brought to the forefront by the Tea Party, because the debt crisis is one of the main reasons why the Tea Party came into existence. The other is because the nation was getting upset with the direction the two political parties were heading, especially the Republican Party, and it's moving more and more to the left.

Without the Tea Party, this issue would hardly have received any notice at all, but since its creation, the nation has taken it upon itself to become more involved in such a normally boring subject. Now this bill was a semi-victory for the Tea Party, but overall we believe we will never see these spending cuts materialize.

The Tea Party Patriots in particular were in the DC trenches, lobbying Congress to hold on the debt ceiling and trying to get the nation's leaders to start living within its means. They recognized that they cannot continue to mortgage their grandchildrens' future this way. The money always runs out in socialist economies, and that is where we are at this time, moving to become more and more a socialist nation. So, the number one issue facing us at this time is this, winning conservative control of both the House and Senate, and defeating Obama's re-election. All other issues are subordinate to these, as it will then allow us to begin the process of saving this nation and true freedom from disappearing from the face of the earth.

Sincerely,

Jim Mason II

  • Oh and such a fine job the tea party did.

Stock market down over 2000 points in a week, S&P says more downgrading coming. Of course this little group held the US hostage, while declining to except a deal to cut over 4 trillion, just because the deal involved closing tax loopholes for big oil and big business, (welfare for big oil and big business), while wanting the seniors to pay more for medicare and receive less in social security. Time for everyone including big business and big oil to accept cuts along with increased revenues to alleviate the debt problem, just not on the back of the poor and middle class!

Mr. Mason, I personally hope everyone, especially tea party members are voted out of office in 2012, time to clean house.(including the white house) Term limits would also be a good idea, lets include that in a balanced budget amendment, bet that would get a lot of support! Ha.
