Appreciating the precipitation
Friday, May 20, 2011
The annual Central Elementary track meet was canceled because of the drizzly weather today, but few of us who have spent much time in Nebraska will complain.
We are finally ahead of normal precipitation -- .15 of an inch as of midnight and 6.86 inches for the year -- but 4.21 of that fell this month.
We are grateful to have received at least the "normal" amount of precipitation this year, as well as the fact that it fell at a rate slow enough to let it soak in rather than run off.
In Nebraska, water of any type, and rainfall in particular, can be worth its weight in gold.
