Farmers Market to new location

Friday, April 15, 2011

Dear Editor,

The market will be moved for the year 2011 to the Senior Center parking lot. The address is 1312 W. Fifth Street in McCook. The entrance for the vendors is the west entrance east of the state yards on West M Street.

We will park the vehicles facing east and west in the first entrance and place them where they will fit in well.

Many gardeners may have already planned their gardens. Farmers Market is a social event where you meet friends and neighbors while you shop. This event is not only a growers' market, but open to baked goods such as bread, cookies, cakes, rolls and fruit pies.

No cream pies or baked goods that will require refrigeration will be allowed. Inspected meat vendors must be approved and provide refrigeration.

Items offered for sale must be homegrown produce or home baked products. We invite anyone who has crafts to bring them to sell.

Last year, apricots, apples, blackberries and other fruit, various kinds of vegetables that the gardeners had in abundance were brought to the market.

We will be open Saturday, July 2, at 8 a.m. For more information, contact Ivan Schmid, (308) 345-3081 or Sonia Caldwell, (308) 345-4703.

Sincerely,

Ivan D. Schmid,

Farmers Market Manager
