Letter to the Editor

Tax cuts

Monday, September 27, 2010

Dear Editor,

Not extending the Bush tax cuts for the income levels of $250,000 or more would hit small businesses where they live. If we continue to stress these businesses in uncertain times, they may have no other choice than to drop health insurance benefits, cut hours or lay off more people.

Small businesses employ 25 percent of the population. Considering the present rate of unemployment and underemployment in addition to those who gave up finding work we cannot thrive if small businesses are forced to make further reductions in force.

If small businesses fail, more people will be out of work. If more people are out of work, they will not be able to buy things. If more people cannot buy things, more businesses will fail. Etc., etc., etc. It could have a domino effect.

So everyone in all income brackets should call their congressman in support of extending the tax cuts across the board. The job that you save may be your own. The country you will save is yours and mine.

Janine Hall,

McCook

"Not extending the Bush tax cuts for the income levels of $250,000 or more would hit small businesses where they live."

Do you seriously believe this? I hate to tell you that the "trickle" down economics don't really appear to work. I reiterate my last point. STOP WATCHING FOX NEWS.

  • I absolutely believe this. Since most small businesses are subchapter S corporations and their businesses are run through the owners personal income taxes 250K is not that much for a small business to bring in. Raising the rates on these people will harm the economy. But I suspect you have bought into the class warfare rhetoric of the Democrats so facts won't get in the way of the truth will they.

SO where do you get your news Damu? CNN? MSNBC? ABC? CBS? Daily KOS? Chris "Tingle up my leg" Mathews? Maybe you should start watching FOX news you might learn something. There is a reason theya re killing everyone else in the ratings game.

@Chaco I don't watch any cable news. The anchors and shows on these networks are simply shills for there main networks agenda. (Definition of Shill, see Glen beck).

Your right though Chaco there is a reason there killing everyone in the ratings game. The majority of there demographic (as with most news organizations) is in the 50+ age range. Fox manufactures fear and then "reports" on it. People tune in to see how they can react to the newest crisis. While fox spews there anti elitist nonsense. (On a side note you know many of foxes anchors are Ivy league educated? Whoda thunk!?)

Let me ask you this, where are fox's anchors most trusted man or women in news awards?

Also if there claiming the money under there personal income taxes. They don't get any tax for the first 250,000. You don't think that's enough of a break already?

  • not to be picky damu, but your responses carry very little weight with me since you apparently don't know the difference between "their", "there", and "they're; a contraction of THEY ARE". and in the context of your response, it should have been "you're", a contraction of "YOU ARE". those simple mistakes make the rest of your argument suspect. your liberal condescension becomes ludicrous in that context.

@Doodle Bug You are being picky. Sadly, my not paying attention to the correct conjugations of said words doesn't effect the message itself. I type these things in my free time. I have other things to do besides proof read every post. I'm not retired sorry!

@Mick Nice link its highly suspect that it will be read though. The message is probably done with grammar that appeases the elitist doodle bug (Isn't it fun just throwing terms around like that!)

@DoodleBug Also, the irony in your post is stinging. You chastise me about grammar. Yet, your "paragraph" above is horribly formatted. You appear to know the differences in the words stated above, but not proper sentence structure. With that kind of information it makes your entire right wing tea bag argument suspect.

  • Hey every one...

Does any one here listen to public brodcasting

    (PBS) both tv and radio????

I find that they offer a point of view that the big news loosers dont even touch on...a more rounded view point that informs...gives you both sides of the story....and then lets YOU decide. They offer news that never reaches the networks because there isnt enough drama to include in there reports because it dosnt draw enough of the masses.....OR MONEY!

The establishment wants to incite mob mentality to build profit!!!! As does big busness!!! Keeps us fighting unmongst our selves....and...That...my friends is exactly what you all are doing. You are pleasing the big boys that are in power!!!

Step back.....THINK......educate your selves as much as you possibly can....then.....comment!!!!

If you think for yourselvs and educate your self as much as you can...THEN....truth and justice prevails!

    PEACE MY FRIENDS

    Karen

  • btw, i forgot to mention that i feel the same way about conservative posts.

and i believe my sentence and paragraph structure is adequate (i also SHOULD capitalize where appropriate, but, being lazy, i don't.) and damu, i dont believe your errors were due to haste.

i am also curious as to why liberals are so fearful of Fox News that they wish us to stop watching. if Fox News is so bad, why would anyone fear them?

my favorite refrain (from both sides, lol) "think for yourself"

  • There is a difference between being lazy and not knowing the difference between conjugations.

@Doodle Actually in retrospect they are really one in the same. I know the difference between them, but in my haste don't take the time to go back over to make sure I've used the correct terms.

    As far as Fox News:

    http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-october-29-2009/for-fox-sake-

That video gives you an excellent idea of how they work.

Also, I've enjoy the civility of our conversation and look forward to in continuing.
