Tax cuts
Dear Editor,
Not extending the Bush tax cuts for the income levels of $250,000 or more would hit small businesses where they live. If we continue to stress these businesses in uncertain times, they may have no other choice than to drop health insurance benefits, cut hours or lay off more people.
Small businesses employ 25 percent of the population. Considering the present rate of unemployment and underemployment in addition to those who gave up finding work we cannot thrive if small businesses are forced to make further reductions in force.
If small businesses fail, more people will be out of work. If more people are out of work, they will not be able to buy things. If more people cannot buy things, more businesses will fail. Etc., etc., etc. It could have a domino effect.
So everyone in all income brackets should call their congressman in support of extending the tax cuts across the board. The job that you save may be your own. The country you will save is yours and mine.
