Letter to the Editor

Be a patriot

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Dear Editor,

Barack Obama and the leftists liberals are disfiguring and destroying our private sector.

We need to stand up and say "This is the limit and I'm willing to make a difference."

Many soldiers throughout American history have given the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our precious freedoms and opportunities. If they died for our country, why are we standing around thinking somebody else should do something? You need to act in order to save America.

Remember how everyone was united in our country to save the world from totalitarian regimes? This is a war -- not fought with bullets and bombs, but with words and ideas and we need to get involved. Let's not see America die "not with a bang, but a whimper."

If this is progress, then let's regress to an earlier time, when we defended our liberties and acted with integrity.

We need to get back to God and pray for our country like we've never prayed before.

Janine Hall,

McCook

@Janine You know, I don't remember reading these kinds of letters when they were implementing the patriot act and raping our freedoms more than had been done since WW2.

Where was the outrage there? Perhaps you should shut off your fox news, and try thinking for yourself. It's really kind of liberating. I think you could learn to enjoy it.

  • Janine Hall, well said, well said. Please consider the source of the good folk who would try to make you feel bad for defending your opinion, by attacking times when no on was the same person they are today. Keep your Spirit.

Damu, shame on you, Damu. Our First Amendment give you the right to be a nasty, little, person (my opinion only), but I do marvel that you seem to be so proud of your nasty mouth. For Shame, but you go ahead and convince more citizens of your personality. Many of us will pray for you.

@Navy I'm aware of the first amendment. Note I posted something above knowing it would be detracted at some point. I'm curious why you think I'm a nasty person, the points and questions I put forth above are valid.

Fox news has been shown many times to be a great source of non-news. Based on her statements above its fairly simple to come to the same conclusion.

  • Damu, I found your comments to be a bit harsh.

In my opinion, which by the constitution I am guaranteed to still have my free opinion, Fox News seems to be one of the only to hold mostly a middle of the road reporting of things. You see much more of the facts and things that other reporting news stations don't.

I do agree none of us are the same person we were nearly 10 years ago. September 11, 2001 forever changed our lives. While some did not fully appreciate the importance then of needing to get more involved in learning about our candidates and members of the government, we have continually began to learn how important that is. Now more than ever we need to be as informed as possible about the issues our great country is facing.

I completely agree with Janine that this country needs to go back to our roots. I too wonder where our pulling together to defend off those that want to see this country fall.

I for one am getting more involved, reading all I can. And not just from one news source either. I am campaigning for candidates I feel are worthy to be elected. Which is something I've never done before. I have always voted. I hope to see a line outside of the polls this November and every election time after that as well. We should not fall back on our laurels when things are "smooth". We need to be vigilant at all times to hold our politicans accountable for their actions.
