Letter to the Editor

What profit?

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Dear Editor,

What value do ye get per $1? Wherefore do ye spend money, for that which is not bread? Alcohol, drugs, tobacco, body painting, piercing, tattoos, lotteries, sports and such like?

Woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink ... at the last it biteth like a serpent and stingeth like an adder ... ye shall not make any cuttings in your flash ... nor print any marks upon you ..."

On news, "woman was trampled to death by spooked horses ... Lil' dog half blinded (an eye left dangling!) kids health.org cites six dead, 9,300 injured by fireworks! So let the tradition fizzle out! They don't hold a candle to a door-rattling, house shuddering, thunder booming panoramic lightning blitzzzz anyhow! What value do ye get per $1?

"For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" Mark 8:36-37.

Frank Sowers,

Benkelman, Nebraska

  • Alas, when there is a 'Dollar sign' involved in a question the Sum of the question can have little value. Today, the dollar purchases less than ten-cents worth of the same merchandise, ninety years ago, when a dollar was actually worth one hundred Penney's. But that is still not where the value of a dollar be.

In Jesus, if there was a dollar value assigned, would purchase many Millions of Dollars worth of Spiritual Value.

But, Alas once more, God did not put a price tag on Salvation; No work needed, No sacrifice worthy, No penalty for late deposit. No, nothing seems to qualify for Salvation short of the horrific price of Faith in the Only Begotten Son, Jesus, the Messiah (but the Grabber is 'Emanuel').

Emanuel, the grabber, is so, since it means: "GOD, With Us." God, With Us, means that the 'Word' of God (Himself) actually walked with mankind, and died on a Roman Cross, to pay for the Gift He desired to give us: Salvation, without us paying that Death Price we could not pay. Yet, He came, Taught, Suffered, Died, and to frost the cake of perfection, Resurrected from Death, back to Life, to Destroy Deaths hold on us, for our Sins.

Our price is naught, but to accept the Free Gift, of Salvation, through that Agape Sacrifice, Repent of our sinful ways, and be Baptized, that we sign into Jesus' Death, Burial, and Resurrection (a "COVENANT" an Unbreakable Contract) signed, sealed, and delivered, for Eternity, our Salvation in Him, Jesus. Hallelujah to God the Son.

If you haven't, you need turn your heart over to Jesus, soon, as Time is so very short, to be blessed with Salvation through Grace. Oh, Yeah, AMEN

In Messiah, Keep the Watch, Redemption draws, oh so nigh. Arley

To be Blessed, you must Bless the Savior.

  • I get great value for the dollars I spend on fireworks. Even my 1 year old was smiling this at the sight of them this year and that's priceless.
