Letter to the Editor

Tiemann Park?

Monday, August 16, 2010

Dear Editor,

Glad to see [the Romanoff building] being removed, it is not taken care of properly.

I read in the local Gazette ideas should be expressed as to use for site of the building being demolished at all's expense at Norris and B street. I didn't know where we were to send the suggestions.

I would like to see a small rest area with "multiple" restrooms open 24-7, and well-lighted at night.

The merchants store restrooms are not conducive to the general population i.e.; infant changing tables, extra traffic. There are special events often slated downtown throughout the year, in addition to shopping in the summer heat and winter evening holiday shopping. A "shaded" area with tables, benches and water facilities and perhaps a fountain withpond.

The downtown area is always being promoted and this facility would be nice.

This area should not be used for parking.

On the lighter side, the city perhaps could name it the Norbert Tiemann Park, after our past governor. In a speech he once said and I quote "if Nebraska ever needed an enema we would insert the hose in McCook Nebraska."

One Suggestion

Dennis Chancellor,

McCook

  • Another thing that Governor Tiemann said was that by passing a sales tax bill, we could have property tax relief. It seems to be a common sales point, but never seems to happpen...
