Letter to the Editor

More on Macklin

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Dear Editor,

As a follow-up to my letter printed in your paper June 28, about Macklin Bay at Swanson Lake. I would like to add a few things.

It is too late to worry about the trees in the channel this year unless someone wants to spring for the cost of having History Channel's swamp loggers come in and clear it, and I doubt that will happen.

Next winter is a different story, when the water is lower and frozen, it could be done. I have a chainsaw, 4- wheeler, and a tractor with grapple fork. I will be more than happy to furnish these, and the gas for them to clear the mess out. If there are others out there that feel the same as I do maybe we can get together and GET IT DONE !

I do have faith that if we clear the trees the boat ramp will be useable some years.

Paul J. Forch,

Trenton

  • Great idea Paul but you forget that you have to have an enviromental study done first and the EPA doesn't act very fast. Who knows what the bay holds, maybe a special worm that don't exsist anywhere else and I think those cattails are only found in Macklin. Is your grappling hook been approved by OSHA? GET MY Gist?
