Letter to the Editor

Thanks, McCook!

Thursday, April 22, 2010

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following letter accompanied a donation to the City of McCook from a camper at Karrer Park on Sunday, April 11.

Five months ago a friend moved to McCook from the Twin Cities of Minnesota, which I call home. Inquisitive by nature, I used the Internet to learn more about McCook and was so impressed that I resolved to visit my friend here on my homeward journey from a winter in California.

The kind people at Ogallala's I-80 rest stop told me about this beautiful park, and lo and behold: Reality exceeded all my expectations! I'm already fond of Nebraska, having served for four years at Offutt AFB during my 21-year military career spanning two wars. What a treasure is the town of McCook! Perfect location, excellent roads, grrreat Tex-Mex restaurant, honest and reliable auto and truck service, freight and passenger rail, regional airport, friendly people and caring community who value and cherish the service of so many military veterans and reservists and active-duty warriors and their brethren resting in cemeteries around the world.

Thank you, McCook! I'll be back!

Linda Morey,

Major, USAF (ret.)

From my 22-foot Airstream motor home

  • Sometimes we can not see the forest for the trees. Sometimes we can not see how lucky we are to live in McCook because of the same ole loud critics. McCook is a great place to live and work.
