Good weekend to dream, plan for warmer weather
Thursday, February 18, 2010
Snow was in the forecast today, and it looks like it may be back this weekend.
A great time to stay inside and dream about warmer temperatures.
What better time to attend the McCook Area Chamber of Commerce's 20th annual Home and Leisure Show at the Army Reserve Training Center, 400 Airport Road?
About 65 vendors will be under one roof, beginning Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and continuing Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Canoes to computers, siding and saunas, purses and windows -- you name it, and there's a good chance someone will have something to show you. A special section will be set aside for home-based businesses and crafters.
Admission is $2, with children 12 and under free, and each paid admission comes with an automatic entry for two $250 gift certificates, redeemable with vendors at the show.
As usual, there will be plenty of give-aways and drawings, and don't worry about finding something delicious to eat, thanks to Catering Plus.
As Chamber manager Pam Harsh said, "It's a great, inexpensive way to spend an afternoon with family and friends."
It's also a good way to get in on what's new in home repair and recreation, with vendors from the Lincoln area, Colorado and Kansas as well as Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas.
So if you're looking toward everything from a minor renovation to building a new home -- or you'd just like to dream -- check out this weekend's Home and Leisure Show.
