Missing melody
Dear Editor,
Cheers to Mike Hendricks for his Opinion article in the Jan. 22 edition of the Gazette.
The words of the song by the African-American brought a chuckle but also some reality to the era we are now living in. Our morals and sense of decency for so many people are sadly lacking.
The dress-code of some of our young folk doesn't leave much to the imagination, aside from being effusive. It would be nice to see a little self-pride being shown. The words to "Pants on the Ground" sure spoke well.
Going back to the "stone ages," as the kids call it now, and through the years, we had music with melody and words worth listening to.
It seems the composers now don't know much about good melody ... just so it is noise. As to words, some of them are mostly talking, not singing, and some quite risque'.
I think Mike and I are getting old. Duh! Better get off my soap-box.
Esther Wissbaum,
McCook
