Letter to the Editor

Column insulting

Monday, January 4, 2010

Dear Editor,

Though I've not lived in McCook since March 20, 2004, and am a registered voter in Missouri, the politics of Nebraska will continue to interest me as long as I'm able to read and comprehend.

The insulting first paragraph of the Tuesday, December 29, 2009 Dick Trail column "Our favorite Senator in action" should draw more than two responses from disgusted readers!

My congratulations go out to Garnet Henton and Mike Hendricks who answered Trail on December 31, 2009.

  • Louise,

It probably didn't generate more disgusted letters because absolutely no one -- save for the occasional angry and bitter birther -- reads Mr. Trail's column anymore. I mean, why pick up a 'news'paper and read what Trail has to say when you can just open your e-mail inbox and read countless forwards of other consipiracy theory rants with no basis in truth?

And most of us local Democrats have completely stopped reading this newspaper altogether because it's so one-sided it borders on incredible.

Hope that helps your understanding of the situation.

    Sincerely,

    As Disgusted As You Were

  • Welcome the the mix there Dave. I see you haven't changed your style since high school. Just replace "birther" with "unpopular", or "poor". There are still plenty of democrats still reading the paper, just look at the house editorials trying to spin Sen. Nelson in a positive manner.

  • Well well well. Chunky didn't take long to pull out the tried-and-true Republican mode of debate: personally attack anyone with a difference of opinion. So predictable.

Dick Trail in the past month has accused Obama of not even being an American and called Sen. Nelson a prostitute. I'm not out of line for taking issue with that. It's disrespectful and desperate. Anyone saying those things about Bush would have been labeled treasonous.

Furthermore, watching you even pretend to know anything about me personally either now or in high school is hilarious. Anyone who really knows me knows I had NO style in high school.(Ha ha.) And if you are who I think you are, the accusation that my "style hasn't changed since high school" proves we have a lot more in common than you care to admit.
