Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Officers of the Red Willow County Sheriff's Department are investigating the unattended death of a McCook man at his home northwest of McCook.

Sheriff Gene Mahon said this morning that the body of Gordan E. Huryta, 55, has been sent to Scottsbluff for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Results should be back Wednesday or Thursday, Mahon said.

Huryta's body was discovered by a UPS delivery person between 5 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., Monday, Mahon said. It is uncertain when Huryta died, the sheriff said.

Funeral services for Huryta are pending with Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook.
