Fan enthusiasm won't end with winning streak

Monday, September 14, 2009

All good things must come to an end, and on Friday night, it was McCook's 71-game regular season winning streak.

From the time Aurora ran the opening kickoff back 93 yards for a touchdown through a long second half, it was all Huskies, all night, closing at 48-10.

Quarterback Chad Stull has the right attitude, giving credit to his offensive line and seeing the loss as a learning experience. "It's better to make the mistakes now so we can correct them."

No one would call the Weiland Field home crowd complacent, but Bison fans have certainly grown accustomed to wins.

Like Nebraska Cornhusker fans, McCook Bison fans will pull even harder for the home team knowing that a win isn't always a sure thing.

"We are going to bounce back from this; it's still early in the season," Stull said Friday night.

He's right. And if the enthusiasm and support of a cheering home crowd has anything to do with it, that bounce back won't take long.
