Get ready for fall sports with today's special edition

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

If you see your paper carrier today, you might give him or her a pat on the back.

While you're at it, the same goes for Jeremy Blomstedt, special projects editor in charge of today's Fall Sports Edition, Grant Strunk, who helped with the photography and layout, and the many other members of the editorial, advertising and production staff.

Encompassing three sections covering 40 pages, five of them in full color, the edition includes team pictures, previews and schedules from every sport in the 12 schools in the Gazette coverage area.

The entire edition will be available online for subscribers, and many of the pictures will be available for sale on our Web site: http://mccookgazette.com. You can buy prints or have them imprinted on everything from T-shirts to playing cards to footballs.

We hope you enjoy today's special edition.

It was a special challenge for Jeremy with the recent departure of sports editor John Mesh, who accepted a similar position in Great Bend, Kan., to be closer to his family.

If that weren't enough to keep him busy, Jeremy has also taken on the role of Duane Wilson, one of the staff members of a sanitarium in the Southwest Nebraska Community Theatre production of "Harvey."

The play, performed in the round, will be presented at the Oberlin Events Center on Oct. 17 and at the Republican Valley Event Center on Oct. 22, 23, 24 and a matinee on Oct. 25. The McCook show will have dinner theater options.
