Enjoyed lake activities

Dear Editor,

We recently had an opportunity to visit McCook and Red Willow Reservoir. What a wonderful city and state recreational area. The lake areas were extremely clean and well-groomed. Around 50 of our family members gathered at the lake and spent an eventful weekend.

I wanted to compliment the great staff from the Nebraska Game and parks Commission (Nick, Betsy and Bob) who hosted all the events at the lake on Aug. 1. Since most of us came a distance to McCook, we were unaware of all the activities that were planned out at the lake that day. Several members of our family participated in the fun run/walk along the lake, the sand-castle building contest and the water slides.

The Nebraska Game and Parks workers spent a lot of time getting local donations for prizes as well as organizing all the events. Our family enjoyed all the activities with no cost (and that doesn't happen very often).

Our family experience was wonderful and we plan to come back and enjoy your local attractions. Keep up the great work!

  • I am so glad that the Bell family had a good time at one of our area lakes ( Willow). It's just a shame that the same experience will soon be a thing of the past for the Swanson Reservior,with the reduced services and the lack of attention all the wonderful people that took the time to frequent this area will soon have to make a decision to take their business elsewhere or stay at home.
