Stay engaged on animal control issue

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

It was standing room only at Monday night's McCook City Council meeting, and while the council did advance the ordinance, it did decide to amend the proposal to concentrate on dogs and require that any dogs which have to be destroyed must pose an imminent threat to police officers or the public.

Fees, another point of contention, were not modified as yet. The original draft ordinance is available here.

And updates should be posted at http://www.cityofmccook.com as they become available.

Anyone who has an interest in the issue will do well to read the fine print and stay engaged until the final ordinance is enacted.
