Letter to the Editor

Hello, Dolly

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Dear Editor,

You know that I have been worried about the multitude of feral cats and have written to you expressing my concerns.

This morning (Wednesday0 at about 11:30 a.m., my little dog, Emily, and I were almost home from her morning walk and were heading west along East D Street. There is an area where the sidewalk meets the curb, and as we were strolled along, I happened to look down onto the street.

What did I see? Dolly, that's what! Such a sweet, little (black/white/gold) calico kitten as I've ever seen--there she was only about four weeks old and already walking the streets of McCook. I quickly scooped her up, cuddled and petted her, much to her delight. Emily was amazed by the look on her face, but she decided she liked Dolly too.

Anyone caring to donate to Dolly's first vet visit, please call the Red Willow Animal Clinic at 345-4143 for cost information.

I bought her a four pack of Special Kitty (Super Super Dinner), a box of Scoop Away (Fresh Scent) kitty litter, a scratching post box, and a manager at Wal-Mart kindly helped me choose a small, shallow, cardboard box to serve as her litter box.

Dolly is napping on my lap as I write this note.

Thank you.

Kathleen Bills
