Are you going to go on vacation?

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Despite a shaky economy this winter, spring is in the air and we asked parents at Barnett Park recently if they planned to go on vacation this year. Their responses indicated that a vacation was still in the picture, although nothing extravagant was planned:

"Hopefully we'll go to the Black Hills, just to relax and get out of cell phone range."

Andi Cappel and Grace, 5, Grant, 3 and Emma, 1

"If we go on vacation, it will be to Denver to visit family."

Jane Keith

"Whatever she says."

Travis Keith

"Maybe. We're going to Georgia, where Jarrod is being deployed to Iraq for a year."

Lacy Krueger, Jarrod Schmoker and Mason, 6, Madison, 3

"When I get back we'll go to Disneyland."

Jarrod Schmoker

"Yes, to South Dakota to see Mt. Rushmore. My son really wants to see it after he did a school project."

Becky Mai and Riley, 8

"We bought a camper this year so we can do more traveling close to home."

Korey Sedlacek and Colton, 3, Abby, 4 1/2 months

  • TO: Jarrod Schmoker, et al:

From a Korean Era Deep Freeze vet,

Thanks for going into the Oven -- Unless of course you end up in the high country of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Then you build awesome lungs while crisping on one side and chilling on the other.

Take care, keep your Six subterranean and call in the overhead.

How long will you be in Georgia?
