Letter to the Editor

Thanks for letter on historic home

Thursday, February 19, 2009

Dear Editor,

Thank you Susan (Doak) for writing some of the history on the old house on East Second. That was the first thing I thought of when I see it is doomed -- "What is the history of that old house?" For some reason that beautiful old place always caught my eye. What a shame to see it destroyed.

Roberta Felker,

McCook

  • It was destroyed 3 years ago when the current owner decided not to keep it up. People need to be proactive and not wait until the last minute to fight for a cause. This is not the City's fault. They are the one's who are doing something about it.

  • You are wrong when you stated "3 years ago the current owner decided not to keep it up". A man and his family worked very hard to restore it. They were met with stop work orders. He had made some progress though he was on a limited budget. If it had not been for the stop work orders most likely in time the place would have been in better shape.
