Why not believe?
Dear Editor,
I have some questions concerning last Friday's column written by Mike Hendricks (Mike @ Night). In his column he equates the prophecies of Nostradamus and the Mayan calendar with those made by the Biblical prophets. In grade school, we were taught to use our helpers, Who, Where, When, Why, What and How to make evaluations and arrive at a conclusion.
WHO inspired the Mayan Indians to develop such a calendar, which represents a brilliance bordering on the supernatural? WHY did they choose a date in the year 2012 for the end of the world? WHO inspired Nostradamus, separated from the Mayan's by many years and living in a totally different culture to pick the same date in the year 2012 for the end of the world? Does it not smack of supernatural genius? An evil genius, Satan himself? Man, in all his brilliance, does not possess the ability to predict the future with any degree of accuracy, only God, who adds in many details surrounding his prophecies can predict the future, with deadly accuracy
WHY does Professor Hendricks equate those prophecies with the prophecies of the biblical prophets? Of which well over 800 have come to pass just exactly as written, in every detail? I have a book, written by John F. Walvoord, for many, many years, President of Dallas Theological Seminary, who died several years ago at age 92, titled "Every Prophecy In The Bible," in which he details all the prophecies in the Bible, those already fulfilled and those remaining to be fulfilled.
In light of the accuracy of Bible prophecy, WHY does Professor Hendricks choose "not to believe" in face of all the evidence?
Cordially,
Paul Schneider,
McCook
