Holiday display

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Dear Editor,

Another holiday season has passed and we have coiled up the last of the power cords to our musical digital light show. We appreciate all of you who came out to see the lights dance to the music.

I enjoyed going out to greet you and have you sign the guest book. As we counted up the entries, we came up with more than 3,766 people in 1,426 vehicles. We passed out more than 200 dozen candy canes! Even on the very cold, windy nights, there were still carloads of you watching the show.

You came from at least 63 towns in Nebraska and 24 states outside of Nebraska. The farthest viewers were two priests from India visiting at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook and a woman from Germany visiting in Culbertson.

Several of you commented that this was becoming part of your family Christmas tradition. It was enjoyable to read your comments and see what your favorite parts of the show were. We know that many of you came out more than once, bringing other friends and family members along.

Thanks to our neighbors who had to wait in lines to get to their homes! We appreciate the times on Open Line with Rich Barnett on KICX and the interview with Jimmy Rowe on Coyote Country. Also thanks to the McCook Gazette and the Hitchcock County News for their articles about the show.

We are looking for new songs and building new segments for another display beginning the day after Thanksgiving and running through New Year's Eve this year. Hope to see you then.
