Bison 8th grade girls basketball teams 2-0 vs. Southwest squads
SOUTHWEST -- The McCook Junior High School eighth grade girls basketball A and B teams swept the Southwest Roughriders Thursday at Southwest.
McCook's eighth grade girls teams are coached by Steve Clapp and Tom Lentz.
The Bison A team defeated Southwest 38-12 and the B team won 37-10.
Megan Ruppert led the Bison girls A team in scoring with 10 points, followed by Rachel Goltl 9, Brooklyn Trew 8, Brittany Broomfield 4, Kassidy Gillen 4 and Madison Chitwood 3.
Lauren Ruggles led the Roughrider A team with 8 points. Abby Daffer scored 3 and Shelby Malleck 1.
Broomfield poured in 21 points to lead the Bison B team. Riley Allen scored 8 points, Khyla Krepcik 2, Nicole Helm 2 and Olivia Paz 2.
Daffer paced the Roughrider B team with 4 points.
"It was a good opening game for McCook," Clapp said. "We accomplished our first goal of playing with intensity, but we have many areas of improvement as we get ready for Game No. 2 against North Platte St. Pats next Thursday (at home)."
