This is not 1968

Dear Editor,

Very recently, the evil Russian empire threatened, bombed, attacked and invaded Georgia. (Not our Georgia, you dummy! The one in Eastern Europe, by the Black Sea).

Anyway, those Russians despise anything other than sheer brutal force. Bullying and intimidation are not acceptable in the 21st Century. To begin repairing relations and restoring peace in the world, Russia must respect freedom and democracy. President Bush has demanded the Russians get out of Georgia and recognize its sovereignty and economic territorial integrity.

This is not 1968 and the invasion of Czechoslovakia, where they can overthrow a government and get away with it.

  • Steve, Good comment. Interesting, however, that 'devildoc' takes a position of contempt for America, especially when comparing two diametrically opposed actions, and reasonings. But, then, I guess it may have something to do with people calling right - wrong, and wrong - right.

    Of course, there always is the other option: If you cannot defend something done honestly, attack/slander the honest guy so as to make the bad guy look less bad, even good. Hmmmmm. Well, Food for thought.

    Enjoy your freedoms, devildoc, and friends. America is also on Russia's list of places to 'Liberate' from that terrible thing called 'Freedom.'

  • Don't be so hard on devildoc. I do believe, based on Mr. Stramel's many past emails, that devildoc has recognized the sarcasm of the initial post.
