Maxine Mae Schrein died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Community Hospital in McCook, Neb., at the age of 86.

She was born May 8, 1922, in Red Willow County, Neb., the daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (Hinz) Reiners. She grew up in the Ash Creek Community where she graduated from rural school.

On Oct. 13, 1940, Maxine married Wilfred W. Schrein. They moved to Van Nuys, Calif., for eight years before moving to Inglewood, Calif. Wilfred preceded her in death on April 18, 1951, and her son, Ronald on July 19, 1970. She returned to McCook where she was a dental laboratory assistant for 28 years for Jack Molsby.

She enjoyed sewing and her church guild.

Maxine is survived by one daughter, Joyce Lenart and her husband, Raymond of Estero, Fla.; four grandchildren, Kristen McGirk and husband, Riley, Craig Bald and wife, Anne, James David Schrein and Ronald Schrein; four great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Allie McGirk and Alexander and Charles Bald; one sister, Elaine Wahrman of Omaha, Neb.; and relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church at Ash Creek with the Rev. Kevin Schnakenberg officiating. Inurnment will be in the Ash Creek Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in her name and friends may sign her register until noon Wednesday at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook.
