Letter to the Editor

Capitalism in action

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

Dear Editor,

As the price of gasoline becomes even more outrageous, we must all do what we can to do what must be done.

Buy your fuel from only reputable dealers. Make sure the product does not originate in foreign countries that have evil doers, tyrants and militants. Some of this gasoline was extracted from evil empires that President Bush has been trying to destroy.

Let's put capitalism back into action and do business only with imperialists. Democracy. And remember: The gasoline might be from dictator ships.

Steve Stramel,

McCook

  • Buy local - support your neighbors - stop buying from large chains! There are two gas stations in town that are locally owned and operated. The gas that they supply is refined right here in the Midwest!

  • Which two stations? With the distribution system set up as it is, how can one tell?

If a person is able, how about riding the old bicycle, when possible? (I can say that because I cannot ride anymore, being on oxygen.)

  • Ampride is also locally (regionally) owned and operated by Frenchmen Valley Coop. I don't know where they get their gas though.
