Marvin Potthoff honored during MMBA opening night

Thirty-one teams were introduced to an enthusiastic crowd last Friday night in McCook Midget Baseball Association's opening night at Felling Field.
The association overseas four team divisions, including T-ball, T-softball, Cubs, and Sluggers.
The association honored Marvin Potthoff of McCook by inducting him into its Home Run Club.

Potthoff has been an avid supporter of baseball and softball in the community since 1961.
He has coached and helped with little league teams at Felling Field for sons Jeff, Kevin, Lance, Troy, and Kyle, as well as assisting for softball teams for daughters Lisa and Tanya.
"On behalf of all the children you've helped in baseball and softball over the years," said master of ceremonies Tom Bredvick.

"We want to honor you today and induct you into the 2008 Home Run Club and thank you for your past support of youth baseball. You've truly helped kids swing for the fence."
Potthoff threw out the opening pitch to his grandson, Hunter Potthoff, while his son, Kyle Potthoff, served as umpire.
Following the opening ceremony, players and fans were served hamburgers and hotdogs prepared by the McCook Lions Club.
A schedule of games is available on the internet at www.mccookbaseball.org.
