Course closed?

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Dear Editor,

During a morning coffee session a few weeks ago I was advised that the Broken Tee Golf Course was closed. No one knew the reason for the closure or how long the course would be closed. A number of the members of the golf course have not been notified of the closure of the course or if there is a plan for the course to be reopened.

Several of the members still have active memberships at the course and are wondering if they are going to be able to play golf or will be reimbursed for that portion of the year for which they will not be able to play.

Golfers at the Broken Tee have contacted Mr. Bill Davis, the McCook Gazette, and the City of McCook and no one seems to know what is going on.

There are a number of older men and women, kids, and handicapped individuals who play golf along with others at the Broken Tee. Its closure impacts quite a number of individuals. The membership at the other golf course in McCook makes it impossible for many Broken Tee golfers to be able to afford to play there.

I would appreciate it if some one would explain why the course closed. Will the course open again this year? What part of the course does the city of McCook own? Is the city of McCook in a position to help the golf course open this year? If the Broken Tee golfers are not going to be able to golf, how do they get reimbursed their dues for that portion of the year for which they are not able to play golf?

Gene E. Morris,

McCook

EDITOR'S NOTE -- The Gazette has attempted to contact the owner, but calls have not been returned.
