Letter to the Editor

Miss something?

Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Dear Editor,

Did I miss an election somewhere?

I wasn't aware that Mrs. Clinton ever ran for the office of President of the United States. I know her husband did, and I voted for him both times.

I saw Mr. Clinton sign bills into law and hold talks with world leaders about issues, but I never saw Mrs. Clinton do any of these things.

If people want to say that based on being married to a former president is grounds for someone not being able to run for the same office, perhaps Mike Huckabee shouldn't be allowed to run, based on the constitutional separation of church and state.

He is after all an ordained minister and has made appeals to the religious right to sway the vote.

This is a clear violation of the tax-exempt status of churches and other non-profit organizations.

Taking sides in any issue is not allowed and any church which does should be labeled a Political Action Committee and be forced to pay taxes on their assets.

With regard to ability to run the country, I don't see that Mrs. Clinton could do any worse than King George has. In an effort to have a shining jewel in his crown, King George has spent the future of the next three generations of Americans in the cesspool of the Middle East. Going after terrorists is one thing, foolishness is another. Trying to get the religious factions in Iraq to work together is like trying to get the Jews and Arabs to get along. Not much chance of success either way.

In any instance, who ever gets King George's crown will have the devil's own time trying to fix what the current office holder has wrecked.

Sincerely,

Robert Yost

  • Amen to that. I agree
