McCook boys can't overcome deficit at NP

NORTH PLATTE -- The McCook High School boys basketball team rallied from a 22-point halftime deficit Friday night at North Platte, but fell to the Bulldogs 66-61.

McCook (6-8) outscored North Platte 13-6 in the third quarter and 31-20 in the fourth quarter.

McCook made 10 3-pointers in the game out of 18 attempts, including five in the final frame.

North Platte led 18-9 after one quarter and 40-22 at halftime.

Seth Schaeffer led the Bison with 14 points and Cory Gaston scored 11. Connor Larson hit three 3-pointers for 9 points.

Chance Unger scored 7, Eric Rippen 7, Matt Berry 6, Aaron Ruppert 4 and Zach Wieser 3.

Tyrone Sellers played but did not score.

Kyle Obermeier led North Platte in scoring with 19 points. Logan Collins scored 12 and Jade Evans 11.

McCook will compete in the Colby Orange and Black Classic next Thursday through Saturday.

The Bison will play Wichita South in a first round game Thursday at 5:45 p.m. central time/4:45 p.m. mountain time.

The McCook High School junior varsity boys basketball team lost to North Platte 62-43 Friday night at North Platte.

North Platte outscored McCook 40-23 in the second and third quarters.

Ryan Hardin and Connor Larson each scored 9 points for the Bison.

Dustin Parde scored 6, Tye Smith 4, Mike Grabowski 4, Tyrone Sellers 4, Austin Larson 3, Ethan Hardin 2 and Mark Nichols 2.

Dain States led the Bulldogs with 15 points. Quinton Standage added 10. Andrew Lauber and Adam Way each had 8.
