Dear Editor,

The fourth grade class at Aviston Elementary, located in southern Illinois, is learning about the United States and the different environments, climates, resources and highlights found in each region.

The kids in the class think it would be fun to receive postcards, souvenirs, resources or any information about our great country from each of the United States.

We hope that people who read this letter will be interested in mailing our class items pertaining to their state.

Our address:

4th Grade @ Aviston Elementary

A sincere "thank you" to anyone who is able to contribute! We apppreciate the excitement you will add to our learning experience.

Mrs. Niemeyer

  • My name is Ken Osborn and I now live in Shoreline WA, which is a Seattle suburb. I went to grade school in Indianola and high school in McCook -- Class of 1961. (turn it over and what do you get?) I then moved on to college at U of N -- this was before University of Nebraska at Kearney etc. There was only one.

Needing a job,I taught school at Weeping Water two years, not a good experience, and Arapahoe one year, which was quite nice. Looking for more money I answered an add in the paper saying that Boeing was hiring and applied. Had I known that they were at the top of one of their hiring binges heading down I wouldn't have bothered and my entire life would have been quite different. One of the managers gave me the phone number of someone who was looking for programmers and I spent the rest of my employed days working for Pacific Northwest Bell, U. S. West, Qwest -- all the same company - name changes were a result of mergers. As a retired person I am now 'working' two days a week at a food bank housed at my Church and inpaticeally awating for Mrs. Spouce to retire so we do some traveling.
