Good lesson for kids

Friday, December 14, 2007

Dear Editor,

The Pantry is sponsored by the Red Willow Area Ministerial Association but is physically located in Canterbury House of St. Alban's Episcopal Church.

That allows me to have a pretty good idea of what goes on. I am impressed with how well the community supports the Pantry. For fear of leaving some sector of McCook and the surrounding communities out, let me just say "thank you" and keep up the good work.

There is one area of support that I want to highlight and that is youth involvement.

Let me give one important illustration. Starting in pre-school and continuing through high school, the youth are involved in collecting food for the Pantry. Every time a group of pre-schoolers and their teachers bring food to the Pantry, I think positive lessons are being taught, we have a responsibility to help others when they need it. Seeds are being planted in young minds that bear fruit in the future. Keep up the good work.
