Honeymoon will be short

Monday, December 3, 2007

Those who second-guessed former NU Athletic Director Steve Pederson's decision to hire Bill Callahan now will have a chance to find out how Bo Pelini will do as Husker head coach.

Many thought he should have gotten the nod four years ago, after carrying on for fired Frank Solich to lead Nebraska to beat Michigan in the Alamo Bowl.

"We need a head coach with strong defensive credentials and great leadership," interim athletic director Tom Osborne said. "We were also looking for someone who can inspire confidence and get players to play with great effort."

We hope the Husker faithful give Pelini a fair chance, but we're sure the new coach knows the honeymoon will be short.
